Over the past twenty years, C.C. has made a name for himself in the professional wrestling business - both inside and outside of the ring. In the ring, he's become respected as solid ring technician on the indy circuits. In fact, his skills earned him the title of "Arizona Wrestling's Hardcore Legend."
Outside of the ring, C.C. has also made his mark as a promoter and ringside commissioner for various groups. In the early part of this decade, C.C. Starr and wrestling legend "Cowboy" Bob Yuma teamed up to promote matches under the name Western States Wrestling. Their shows were nothing short of outstanding. They took Arizona pro wrestling from the bars and swap meets and moved it to the big time when they started running cards at the famous Veterans Memorial Coliseum. It had been over a decade since another promoter had taken wrestling mainstream and it's a feat that has not been since repeated in the Grand Canyon state.
During the run of Western States Wrestling, fans in Arizona were treated to such outstanding performers as Samoa Joe, The Prototype (now known as John Cena), Horshu (a.k.a Luther Reigns), The Ballard Brothers, Navajo Warrior, "Outlaw" Mike Knox, Frankie Kazarian and that's just the beginning.
Sadly, management changes at the Coliseum and some other factors forced an end to this great promotion, but that wasn't the end of C.C.'s legacy. He has also served as a trainer as well as ringside commissioner for other promotions.
These days, C.C. has stepped back a little bit from the wrestling business and is showing considerable interest in the world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Who knows, you might see C.C. on a future UFC pay-per-view. Only time will tell.
